W Bro Steve Braden writes:

The Lodge of Asaph No 1319 is a specialist Thespian Lodge. For some time now, the Lodge has been touring the UK with its 18th Century Masonic play, based upon the minutes of a meeting in 1775 of Falmouth Lodge No 1 in the State of Massachusetts.

After members of Sant Jordi Lodge No 2 of the Province of Catalonia, under the Grand Lodge of Spain, visited the Lodge of Asaph some 9 months ago, and saw us rehearse the play (called “The Fight”), we were invited to perform for them in Spain.

When they visited, we had checked with UGLE that all was correct and recognised and so we were excited to accept their invitation.

After much planning, our WM and five members flew into Barcelona, equipped with costumes and props. We were escorted and entertained throughout by Past Master Joaquim Gamblin, toured the beautiful city of Girona in Catalonia and visited the venue –  a traditional barn which was part of a tavern.

The next evening, we attended their regular meeting; and after closing the Lodge, dressed in period costume and presented our play. Two members of Sant Jordi Lodge joined our cast and were appropriately dressed and wigged! The Festive Board went on for over 4 hours, with 10 courses served. I gained 5lbs!

We have several more invitations for what is turning out to be quite the European Tour – including Brussels, Athens and Luxembourg… I’d better start dieting…
