From its earliest days, Freemasonry has been concerned with the care of orphans, the sick and the aged. This work continues today with Freemasons raising money for a wide range of charitable purposes (including medical research, air ambulances, community care, emergency relief work, education and work with young people). Today we are one of the largest charitable givers in the UK, contributing more than £48 million to deserving causes, and more than 18.5 million hours of volunteer work was undertaken by Freemasons in 2018 alone.

The Coopers’ Old Boys’ Lodge is pleased to have supported a number of important causes selected by Metropolitan Grand Lodge in recent years, including the £2 million appeal to fund a second Air Ambulance for London. https://www.londonsairambulance.org.uk/  and the £2.5 million appeal for the London Fire Brigade to provide that service with two of the three extended height aerial vehicles which will reach 24 floor tall buildings. https://www.londonmasons.org.uk/news/166/the-slgr-investiture-and-presentation-to-london-fire-brigade

Of course, we have also supported other charities that have been close to the members’ hearts, including but not limited to:
